Sample processing is a basic, but essential step in on site paleontologic analysis. Paleon-tologic technicians wash raw samples (ditch cuttings) for foraminifera-washed residue and calcareous nannoplankton slides for analysis enabling the biostratigrapher time to concentrate on interpretation. The work of the paleo techs also make it feasible for the biostratigrapher to generate detailed quanitative data while drilling. This data can be transmitted to the client's biostratigrapher on a daily basis for integration into their database in real-time.
